—When nature gives you lemons, you make lemonade By Captain Wright Eruebi, 220 Red River Squadron – 20 September 2020
Winnipeg, MB: Warrant Officer 2nd Class (WO2) Erik Zaporozhets of 220 Red River Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron did more than make lemonade out of lemons over the months during the Coronavirus social distancing. WO2 Zaporozhets continued to practice his air skills at an interdenominational evangelical Christian University College during those long, idle months. He completed his first solo flight, made his first night flight, conducted a cross-country flight, and he put in sufficient general air works to attempt for his private pilot’s license. And he passed!
A very ingenious teenager, Zaporozhets had been admitted to Providence College in Otterburne, Manitoba for a four-year aviation program and will be doing a minor in business administration.
On behalf of all at 220 Red River Squadron; we offer our congratulations to WO2 Zaporozhets on his achievements thus-far. He earned our hearty wishes for his future academic pursuits!
