Ground School

Both Power Pilot Training Course PPTC and Glider Pilot Training Course GPTC qualifying exams will be online this year so please ensure if you are writing the exam, that you have the proper tech requirements and are available on date and time specified; and

Any cadet who is interested to write the Ground School Exam, and who meets all eligibility requirements must notify Capt. Savage or Capt. Undiks NLT Dec 18. Exam registration serials will close 20 Dec 2020 so please ensure you registered accordingly.

2021 PPTC; GPTC QUALIFYING EXAMS

A. CJCR Gp Order 8060-7, Air Cadet National Summer Training Course Selection Process

B. CATO 54-27, Power Pilot Scholarship Course

C. CATO 54-26, Glider Pilot Scholarship Course


1. IAW refs, all Power Pilot Training Course (PPTC) and Glider Pilot Training Course (GPTC)

applicants are required to pass a qualifying exam.


2. Cadets must meet the course specific eligibility requirements outlined below, in order to be permitted to write the qualifying exam:


a. PPTC:

(1) Minimum Age: 17 years of age by 1 Sep of year course is taken

(2) Proficiency Level: Qualified Level 4 by 30 Jun

(3) Minimum Grade Completed: Grade 10 or equivalent (Secondary 4/Senior 2)

(4) Physical Limitations: Maximum weight 111.13 kg

(5) RTUs: Must not have been RTU from PPTC/GPTC for lack of aptitude, motivation and/or application, misconduct, repeated air sickness, poor academic performance, failure

on the TC written examination, failure to fly solo or failure

to pass the final flight test.


b. GPTC:

(1) Minimum Age: 16 years of age by 1 Sep of year course is taken

(2) Proficiency Level: Qualified Level 3 by 30 Jun

(3) Minimum Grade Completed: Grade 9 or equivalent (Secondary 4/Senior 2)

(4) Physical Limitations: Minimum height 152.4 cm

Maximum height 190.5 cm

Minimum weight 40.82 kg

Maximum weight 90.72 kg


(5) RTUs: Must not have been RTU from PPTC/GPTC for lack of aptitude, motivation and/or application, misconduct, repeated air sickness, poor academic performance, failure on the TC written examination, failure to fly solo or failure to pass the final flight test.


3. Qualifying exams will be administered online by Area during dates and times outlined below:

a. Northwest Area (Edm): Area OPI – Capt Bonnie-jo Clark

(1) GPTC: 4 Jan 2021 from 1800-2000hrs

(2) PPTC: 5 Jan 2021 from 1800-2000hrs

b. Southern AB Area (Cal): Area OPI – Lt(N) Patricia Mitchell

(1) GPTC: 9 Jan 2021 from 1000-1200hrs


(2) PPTC: 9 Jan 2021 from 1300-1500hrs

c. Central Area (SK): Area OPI – Lt(N) Terri Bentley

(1) GPTC: 10 Jan 2021 from 1000-1200hrs

(2) PPTC: 10 Jan 2021 from 1300-1500hrs

d. Northeast Area (MB): Area OPI – Capt Mathew Lazaruk

(1) GPTC: 9 Jan 2021 from 1000-1200hrs

(2) PPTC: 9 Jan 2021 from 1300-1500hrs


4. Exam serials are now open in Fortress for registration. Only qualified applicants shall be registered in their applicable Area serial NLT 20 Dec 2020. Serial info as follows:

a. Northwest Area (Edm): 21GP301 – Glider Pilot Exam 21PP401 – Power Pilot Exam

b. Southern AB Area (Cal): 21GP302 – Glider Pilot Exam 21PP402 – Power Pilot Exam

c. Central Area (SK): 21GP303 – Glider Pilot Exam 21PP403 – Power Pilot Exam

d. Northeast Area (Wpg): 21GP304 – Glider Pilot Exam 21PP404 – Power Pilot Exam


5. Just a reminder that cadets who fail to meet the 50% minimum required score on the qualifying exam will not be permitted to continue on in the selection process. Questions regarding this matter are to be directed to the undersigned.
