TEAM ACTIVITIES

Band

Sundays 13:00-16:00

Weekly practices with the intention of teaching, and preparing cadets of any skill level the required skills in order to be successful in a Military Band. Attendance at band practices is crucial, and required in order to be a part of the band. Anyone interested, regardless of skill level are invited to participate. Having an instrument is an asset, but the Squadron and SSC will make every attempt to provide an instrument for a cadet who is interested, and unable to obtain an instrument. Being a part of Squadron Band, opens up many doors to Summer Training, and other Music Trips across Canada. Cadets who apply for Music Summer Training are far more likely to get a position at a Cadet Training Centre during the summer.

Biathlon

Sundays 11:00-13:30

Biathlon stats up fairly quickly as we prepare for our first competition in the fall.  With the first competition being a run and shoot style event our training focus will be part marksmanship and part cardio.  Competitors running in the youth category will be expected to run up to 5km or more if the race calls for extra laps to be run for missed shots.  For the marksmanship component we will start with the Air Rifle as that is used for the first competition.  For those advancing to the next stage of the competition we will begin training with skis along with continuing our cardio and marksmanship training.

Manitoba Air Cadet Concert Band

Saturdays 18:00-21:30

A highly recommended addition to the music training offered at the Squadron. Weekly inter squadron practices held with Cadets across the city, allow for excellent opportunities to improve their musical ability with excellent instructors. Musicians improve faster when they are more musicians around them. This program allows for cadets to improve at an incredible rate, and meet cadets they never would have had the opportunity to otherwise.
